The Craftsbury Outdoor Center in Vermont is hosting races Saturday and Sunday.
Race organizers and volunteers were very much active on Friday, as athletes started gathering at the Center, including many from Quebec and Ontario.

Cleaning up some files, we came upon this pic we took of Chris Jeffries dating back to Orford, QC in 2004. Chris has been a member of the National Ski Team and represented Canada at the 2006 Olympics. Real nice guy!

Olivia Bouffart-Nesbitt and Maya MacIsaac-Jones probably wished the horse was real! They are both in Almaty, Kazakhstan, getting ready for the World Junior and U23 Championships.
«I am still adjusting to the time change in Kazakhstan, says Maya, so I am still feeling a bit tired from that, but I did intensity two days ago and felt great during the intensity.
«Mentally, I am still feeling tired from the time change, but physically my body is feeling very strong, so I think that once I adjust to the time change properly I will feel great and ready to race!
«The race organizers are still setting up the sprint course, so I haven’t had a chance to ski it yet, but once it is open I will be skiing it a lot to look at race strategy and tactical ideas.»
Skiplus will cover some : live tweeting for a number of races, reports, reactions from athletes and some exclusive pictures. Canada has sent a strong team to Kazakhstan so the week promises to be exciting.

Ci-dessous quelques réflexions additionnelles à la suite de la Coupe NorAm, la fin de semaine dernière à Duntroon, qui s’ajoutent à celles publiées précédemment.
Beaucoup d’amateurs ont lu le touchant récit de Frédérique Vézina, qui a vu ses objectifs de saison anéantis par les blessures et la maladie.
Frédérique a pleuré toutes les larmes de son corps, a réfléchi à sa vie, s’est ressaisie et s’est reprise en main de la plus belle des façons.
Voici de quoi avait l’air Frédérique sur le bord des pistes, dimanche, à Duntroon.

Les juniors québécois ont une fois de plus occupé le podium au complet, jeudi dernier, lors du skiathlon des sélections canadiennes en vue des Championnats du monde juniors et U23, à Duntroon.
C’est la cinquième fois cette saison en Coupe NorAm que les skieurs du Québec raflent un podium au complet. Voilà qui goûte meilleur qu’une boîte de chocolats pour cette relève montante du ski de fond canadien!

Quebec skiers swept the podium for an incredible fifth time this season in NorAm Cup action last Thursday (skiatlon) in Duntroon, Ontario. That tastes a lot better than a box of chocolates for this new generation of elite canadian x-c skiers!
Waxmen – Team Hardwood
This was meant to be a tweet but due to poor pic quality (size problem), Skiplus will post it here instead!
The boys at the NorAm races in Duntroon salute their buddy Graham Longford, a coach at Team Hardwood who has moved to Switzerland.
They prepared excellent skis for Bob Thompson, who placed third in the Sr Men’s sprint.
Here he is, Dan Roycroft. We took the opportunity during Friday’s rest day in Duntroon (for NorAm races) to connect with the «brain» behind the essential zone4.ca website.

Dan is an ex-member of the Canadian national x-c ski team and founder of Zone4.ca, the top race timing system in North America.
Zone4 is also working on a new custom chip timing system that will, when ready for public use, be a huge step forward in the world of race timing.

Anne-Marie Comeau, Frédérique Vézina et Cendrine Browne ont aussi reçu leurs uniformes du CNEPH. Les fermetures éclair de leurs combinaisons de course se trouvent de part et d’autre sur les épaules.
Like the boys, Anne-Marie Comeau, Frédérique Vézina et Cendrine Browne also got their CNEPH uniforms. Zippers on the one piece racing suits are located on the shoulders.

Beaux bonhommes! – Good looking!
Olivier Hamel, Julien Lamoureux, Philippe Boucher, Sébastien Dandurand et Zachary Cristofanilli posènt fièrement dans les nouveaux uniformes du CNEPH. Ils ont aussi obtenu un manteau d’hiver plus chaud et une combinaison de course «une pièce».

The Frozen Thunder has had tremendous success in Canmore and rightfully so, especially with the race that is organised over the last week-end of October.
There is another place where athletes can ski on snow at the end of October-early November : The Boreal Glide in Forêt Montmorency, Eastern Canada’s own Frozen Thunder, located 70 km north of Quebec City. Athletes from Eastern Canada and neighboring US states are training on the 2 km loop. Here are a few pictures of Centre national d’entraînement Pierre Harvey (CNEPH) athletes gliding away…

La piste Frozen Thunder connaît un succès considérable à Canmore et à juste titre. D’autant plus qu’on y organise une course très attendue dès la fin d’octobre.
Les athlètes de l’est du Canada et des États américains avoisinants ont aussi une piste enneigée à leur disposition fin octobre-début novembre. La «Glisse boréale» est une boucle de 2 km située dans la Forêt Montmorency, tout juste au nord de Québec. Voici quelques photos des athlètes du CNEPH qui se préparent à la nouvelle saison. Ne manque plus que les premières bordées…
…est à Canmore où elle poursuit cette semaine son premier entraînement sur neige de la saison, après avoir pris la 15e place dans l’épreuve de distance (pas de patin) chez les femmes seniors, lundi, dans le cadre du Frozen Thunder. Anne-Marie est encore d’âge junior.
«Le plus grand défi que j’ai eu a été de me maintenir en équilibre pendant la course! dit-elle. Passer du ski à roulettes au ski sur neige est une très belle sensation à retrouver, mais qui demande un peu d’adaptation surtout en situation de course! Je suis très heureuse d’être enfin sur neige:) »
